Joseph Mason is the administrator here at Prairie Manor Inc. Although a native of Iowa, Joseph graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Health Services Administration. He successfully ran a skilled nursing facility and assisted living in South Dakota for 2 years before finding his way to Prairie Manor in January of 2018. If you have any questions on long/short term stays or need a resource for elderly care, he welcomes you to contact the management team. He has an open door policy and would encourage you to stop in and say hello.
Allison has been employed at Prairie Manor since 1993. She began working as a dietary aide here while still in high school and then became a CNA while she was attending her nursing classes. She graduated in 2006 as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career as a Charge Nurse working the evening shift. She then became a Nurse Manager. She worked as a Nurse Manager for approximately 5 years before she accepted the position of the Director of Nursing in 2012. She grew up in Blooming Prairie and still resides here with her husband she married in 1999, 1 son, and 2 daughters. Her children attend the Blooming Prairie School District and she enjoys being able to work in the same area her children go to school in. She loves Prairie Manor’s small town touch and home-like atmosphere and she is very proud to be a member of the Prairie Manor team.
Dawn is a licensed social worker and co-director of Social Services at Prairie Manor with Heidi Thompson. She is a graduate of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa with a Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) degree. Dawn was Prairie Manor’s first Social Worker, starting in 1989. She has seen many changes over the years, but her favorite part of the job continues to be meeting and getting to know the residents and their families. Dawn lives in the beautiful community of Blooming Prairie with her husband and their Chihuahua, Eli.
Heidi started at Prairie Manor in 1992. She is a licensed Social Worker and co-director of the Social Service department. She has worked side by side with co-director Dawn Sheward since her first day in 1992. Heidi attended Bethel College and received her degree in Social Work in 1980. She worked with troubled youth at the beginning of her career. When she began her family, her focus became her children, she was able to be a stay-at-home mom by having her own in-home day care for ten years. When her youngest started school she was able to continue her career in Social Work and started work at Prairie Manor. The best part of Heidi’s job at Prairie Manor is interacting with the residents. They have so much to share about their life experiences. Heidi has lived in Blooming Prairie most of her life. She has been married for 34 years and has 3 children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family.
Pam started here in 1979. She is a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Food Protection Professional. She works with a Consultant Registered and Licensed Dietitian; Lesa Dahl-Leland, RD, LD. Pam has been married since 1970, her and her husband have 6 grown children and 5 grandchildren. She loves to spend time with family, traveling, 4-wheeling and gardening. Pam enjoys working and visiting with the residents at Prairie Manor and offers quality home cooked meals.
Ken started as the Environmental Services/Maintenance Director on July 18, 2016 at Prairie Manor. He came from Koda Living Community where he was the maintenance, laundry and housekeeping Lead. He started my maintenance career working at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, where he worked in maintenance for 7 years until the school closed. He then went to Cedarview Care Center and Park Place Assisted Living and worked until they built a new facility attached to the hospital called Koda Living Community and then he came to Prairie Manor. Before that Ken worked for 10 years as an appliance repairman for Sears, until K-Mart bought Sears and closed most of their service centers. Ken is a 1st Class Boiler Engineer, and has a “General” class Amateur Radio License (HAM), and has a Regular Unlicensed Electrician License. Ken served in the U.S. Army for 7 years with his last duty assignment as the NCOIC of the West Point Military Academy Communication Center and as a radio instructor for the cadets. He and his amazing wife have been married for 47 years, and have two grown children, a daughter (Karrie) who lives in Owatonna and a son (Bruce) who lives in Oklahoma. Ken has three amazing grandchildren, two (David & Anna) here and one (Madison) in Oklahoma.
Claire is the Activity Director at Prairie Manor. She grew up in Darlington, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with a degree in Recreation Therapy. Claire has a sincere appreciation for the positive impact participation in meaningful leisure programs can have on a person’s independence, well-being, and quality of life at any stage of their life. She strives to provide opportunities for self-expression, personal growth, enjoyment, and accomplishment every day. Claire is so grateful to be able to work and live in the close-knit community of Blooming Prairie.
I am very happy to be here at Heather Haus. I’m originally from California and made Blooming Prairie my home in 2009. I am married, and God has blessed me with 3 beautiful children. I started my journey to nursing From CNA to LPN to RN at Prairie Manor in 2012. Since then, I’ve gained valuable experience in Home Care Case Management and Radiology Nursing at Mayo Rochester and have now made my way back to Heather Haus. Things I look forward to: I’m excited to get to know all the wonderful residents and staff at Heather Haus as well as do my part in this community.
