Prairie Manor Inc. Visitor Policy Amid Covid-19

Prairie Manor Inc. Visitor Policy Amid Covid-19

It is the policy of Prairie Manor Inc. to allow visitors, under guidance from the department of health, into the building during the time of Covid-19. Policy specifics are as follows...

1. Any number of general visitors, compassionate caregivers, or essential caregiver may visit at a time as long as facility maximums are not hit. Prairie Manor Care Center will allow no more than 20 outsiders in the building at one time. Heather Haus will not allow more than 10. Exceptions will only be made for compassionate care.

2. A gown, in addition to a surgical mask and goggles/face shield will be required for seeing a quarantined or positive resident.

3. Goggles/face shield will otherwise only have to be worn when advised by the infection preventionist who monitors the covid regulations and county prevalence.

4. Visitors eating or commencing in other activities that require masks to be taken off are not allowed unless both the visitor and resident are alone and vaccinated.

5. Staff will routinely check on residents to provide cares. When this happens, the visitor of any kind may be asked to step outside the door into the hall where they should wait.

6. Non-vaccinated visitors and the resident they are visiting must have surgical masks on. Residents do have the right to refuse this.

7. Vaccinated visitors may opt out of mask usage as of 05/03/2021 when visiting a vaccinated resident. Regardless of visitor vaccination status, visitors must wear a mask in the public areas where they may encounter other residents (walking in the halls) and whenever they encounter a healthcare worker. Visitors will know of this by a public display of this policy, some other signage, or by word of mouth from a door screener. Visitors do not need to provide physical proof of their vaccination records.

8. Upon entry at the front door, the visitor must: hand sanitize, give us their contact information, note time of arrival, put on a surgical mask & eyewear, answer whether they are or have recently been ill, been in contact with the ill, and get their temperature checked. Anyone who does not pass the symptom screen or has had contact with someone who is COVID positive in the last 14 days must speak to the infection preventionist and/or will be denied entry.

9. Upon exit the visitor will hand sanitize

10. The visitor and resident can only meet in an area where they can both maintain 6 feet social distancing from other people. For instance, if there is a roommate situation and the roommate would like to stay in the room, this would force the visitor and the resident to go to another location such as the activity room, or family room. They are to be allowed as much privacy as possible. Fully vaccinated visitors can visit fully vaccinated residents without social distancing.

11. If the facility is in a conventional or contingency staffing capacity this policy will remain in effect. If the facility is in staffing crisis, visitation may be limited.

12. Families will be notified of positive results via the Prairie Manor Website. Updates have been done and may be done through Facebook, email, or phone call.

13. Those residents up to date on vaccinations (defined as anyone who is 2 weeks past the final dose of the COVID19 vaccine and had a booster) can leave the facility for non-essential appointments and won't have to quarantine upon return, but symptoms will be monitored for 14 days. If not fully vaccinated residents may be quarantined based on MDH guidelines.
